- Unity Divergence

- Touch the Heart

- Highborn Elves Master Wizard Divination (1,2,5,6)

- Know Thine Enemy

- Fate's Judgement

- Unerring Strike

- Portent of Doom

- We forgot the Capture Flag marks, (we realised it in couple turn in the game and decided that we skip the secondary objective)

DEPLOYMENT ORDER:

Loriel starts

- Citizen Spears, Seaguard

- Skeleton Chariots, Charnel Catapult

- Flame Wardens

- Skeleton Archers, Necropolish Guard

- Lion Guard, Fire Phoenix

- Skeletons, Colossus, Shabtis, Characters

- Frost Phoenix, Highborn Lancers, Characters

Loriel wons first turn

Turn 1 - Highborn Elves

MOVEMENT

MAGIC: Flux Card 8

- Portent of Doom against Skeleton mage bunker (3 PD), Opponent dispelled (3DD)

- Fate's Judgement against Shabtis (3 PD), caused 1 wound

- Favour of Meladys (3 PD), opponent failed dispel

SHOOTING

- Ineffective

CLOSE COMBAT:

- None

Turn 1 - Undying Dynasties

MOVEMENT

MAGIC: Soul Conduit Flux Card

- Touch of Heart against firephoenix (2 PD), Dispelled (2DD)

- Altered Sight for Colossus (1 PD), Failure

- Unity of Divergence against Citizen Spears (3PD), Dispelled (3DD)

SHOOTING

- Charnel Catapult hit Citizen Spears, I Favour of Meladys two tokens to save 4 spearmen. Citizen Spearmen failed Discipline test, but due Battle Standard Bearer reroll they hold their ground

- Skeleton Archers killed one Lion Guard

- Colossus hit Frost Phoenix, Aegis saved

- Skeleton Scouts caused one wound on Fire Phoenix.

CLOSE COMBAT:

- None

NOTE:

- That Charnel Catapult shot really hurt the spearbunker. Once again BSB showed why it is necessary.

Turn 2 - Highborn Elves

MOVEMENT

- Frost Phoenix charged Skeleton Archers ( Required 7 )

- Citizen Spearmen ( Required 7 ) & Fire Phoenix ( Requied 5 ) Charged Skeleton / Hierophant bunker

- Seaguard swift reformed

- I moved Flame Wardens so that Necropolish Guard would require 8 for charge

MAGIC: Flux Card 4

- Know thy Enemy for Citizen Spears (2PD), Failed Dispel (2DD)

- Unerring Strike against Shabtis (3PD), Failed Dispel (3DD) -> Caused 3 wounds

SHOOTING

- Ineffective

CLOSE COMBAT:

- Frost Phoenix attacks didn't connect as expected and caused only minor casualty against Skeleton Archers. Archers managed to reform

- Citizen Spearmen and Fire Phoenix caused enough damage and combat resolution to fully destroy the unit.

- First overrun with Spearmen managed to just barely clip to Chariots behind

- Fire Phoenix overrun charged shabtis flank and survived dangerous terrain test

Dust to Dust didn't cause much damage

NOTE:

- My opponent made critical mistake of bringing the Death Cult Hierarch too far in advance. On his defence he had previously played couple games with some other Fantasy Battle where infantry cannot charge more than maximum around 10 inches, so the Spearmen 13 inch charge got him little by surprise.

Turn 2 - Undying Dynasties

Dust to Dust caused couple wound over the board

MOVEMENT

- Colossus Declared Charge ( Required 6 ) on Lion Guard, Lion Guard passed Terror test

- Necropolish Guard Declared Charge ( Required 8 ) on Lion Guard, Lion Guard retrested ( total 7 )

- Both Redirected charge to Flame Wardens ( Colossus needed 8th)

- Necropolish Guard charge successfull, Colossus Failed

- Scarab Swarm and one Sand Scorpion ambushed, Scorpion scattered a little

MAGIC:

- None

SHOOTING

- Charnel Catapult miss Highborn Lancers

CLOSE COMBAT:

- Citizen Spearmen won Chariot, but they still held.

- Fire Phoenix went full monty and bashed the Shabtis without single suffered wound

- Frost Phoenix managed to wipe Skeleton Archer unit

- Necropolish Guard and Flame Warden fight ended up exact tie

- My BSB survived Pharaohs Godslayer Great Weapon. My opponent caused 3 successfull to wound roll. BSB had 4+ Aegis. I managed to roll 6 , 4+ saves (the rerolls from divine attack)

NOTE:

- We "played" scenario where I wasn't able to save my BSB and it would have caused Flame Wardens to broke down. That Godslayer definately have some potential to go through defences with multiple wound against aegis + Divine Attacks make it quite scary Character fighter

Turn 3 - Highborn Elves

MOVEMENT

- Both Phoenix charged the rear of Necropolish Guard

MAGIC: Flux Card 2

- Know thy Enemy for Flame Wardens (2PD), Failed Dispel (3 DD)

- Unerring Strike against Scorpion (3 PD), Caused 2 Wounds

- Favour of Meladys (2PD), Failure

SHOOTING

- Ineffective once again :D

CLOSE COMBAT:

- Citizen Spearmen won Chariot unit

- I struck every attack I could against he Pharaoh and managed to down it, before it could strike again. My Phoenixes went full berserk on the rear causing havoc and rest of the wardens cleared Necropolish Guard from the battle field

My opponent decided to concede at this moment.

NOTE:

- This was my first game of Warhammer in roughly 2,5 years ( and over 3 years since I have played with High Elven, making this game 101th game with HE ). It is astonishing to realize that it has been so long. I have played Necromunda / Warcry and some boardgames in between. Truth be told, as father of four, doing fulltime job etc. I simply don't have enough time to play this game. But I really loved playing this game, this has right depth and challenge. I even started to tease my self with idea of repainting my Highborn elves.

- My though for the game was exciting since this was first time I have played against Undying Dynasties / Tomb Kings. I was especially surprised how much better those Chariots are in 2nd edition. To my best of luck spearmen still held their ground quite admirably against them. Also Fire Phoenix with the grinding attacks seems really good especially compared the way 8th Fire Phoenix was quite bad. All in all I think the essence of High Elven and Tomb King is well captured in the 9th age, I just hope I manage to find time to play this great game in near future.
