LORE: Battle of Methushal Plain
After crushing defeat Loriel fell in to a deep depression. Most of his formerly trusted companions were keeping a distance to him. Some of have even joined the ranks of Prince Ardui'la, which blamed Loriel for his fathers death during Battle of Alarduin. Loriel desperately needed a glorious victory to secure his position and avoid devastating civil war. Loriel wrangled up his most elite troops and ventured in to province of Methushal where rumours states that daring Tzeencth Sorceror is keeping a iron grip over the small human population. Loriel couldn't care less about some puny men, but he considered that Tzeentch Sorceror army is small enough to fight against.
My opponent accidently deployed two gorebeast chariots and thus had little bigger than 2400 point army
TERRAIN:
Terrain was randomized as BRB 8th page 142. I won the first placement roll. Terrain placement order:
- River
- Forest
- Swamp ( left )
- Impassable rock
- Swamp ( right )
- Hill
- Fence
DEPLOYMENT
I won table edge choice and first deployment. Deployment order was following:
- White Lions
- Chaos Warriors
- Phoenix Guard
- Chaos Ogres (left)
- Reavers ( Right )
- Gorebeast Chariot
- Silverhelms
- Gorebeast Chariot
- Reavers ( left )
- Mutalith
- Frosthearth
- Woc Characters
- Rest of High Elves
His Level 4 Sorceror roll generated ( 3 , 6 , 6 , 6) and ended up with spell Searing Pain, Blades of Aiban, Transmutation of Lead and Final Transmutation
Festus generated Curse of Leper ja Rancid Viciations
Archmage generated ( 1 , 1 , 2 , 6 ). He had Drain Magic, Apotheosis, Hand of Glory and Fiery Convocation
DEPLOYMENT ANALYZE:
- Gorebeast chariots definately will keep my SIlverhelms controlled. My opponent made mistake when deploying them as he truly had only one gorebeast in his list. But this turned in little handicapped match after all.
- After little consideration I decided to keep Fiery Concocation despite my usual Shield of Saphery tactic. Main reason was to control festus regeneration and force my opponent to save dispel dices for Convocation. I though that in this particular match increased reliability for ward save wouldn't count as much as stripping bodies of from that horde.
I realized while making this report that my Reavers made illegal move. I marched in to the river. I could have moved them still in front of the Chaos Warriors. On the other side Frostphoenix was just out of Ogres line of sight and I placed my reavers so that his overrun would just barely missed the frost and first gorebeast could have charged me.
MAGIC: WoM 6+4, no channels
- Drain magic 2 PD ( 13 ) rr +2
- Fury ring to Ogres 1 PD ( 3 ) 1 DD dispell failed. Soul Quench did whopping 6 wounds to ogres.
- Hand of Glory to White Lions 2 PD ( 15 ) +2 Movement
- Fiery Convocation 5 PD ( 22 ) RR +3 my opponent failed to dispel. Convocation killed 5 normal warrior and champion.
SHOOTING: My archers managed to do 2 wounds on vortex beast
Gorebeast chariot charged Frosthearth Phoenix, he rolled 1 on dangerous terrain test and received 5 wounds.
MAGIC: 6+1, +2 PD (Skull of Katamn)
- Final Transmutation to White Lions 6 PD ( 21 ), 6 DD dispell succesfull
- Mutalith Bound spell to White Lions 3 PD. No wounds ( I am not complete sure what was the name of effect) but he caused +1 Strength and -1 Weaponskill for the White Lions for the rest of the game.
Fiery Convocation killed 9 regular Warrior and caused wound on both BSB and Festus.
CLOSE COMBATS: Gorebeast and Ogres killed revers as expected
TURN ANALYZE:
- My opponent decided to risk for final transmutation in hope of killing the mage to end the RiP and he probably trusted for the spell to cause only minor damage (similar to last turn) I don't know was it a good choice, but this time it didn't pay off.
With the help of hand of glory my white lions managed to do double charge to warriors with Frost Hearth Phoenix. I tried to get my Phoenix guard there too but they failed. I also decided to try to charge the chaos ogres flank with silverhelms in hope of overruning in to the warrior block. On retrospective I should have tried to charge to ogres with phoenix guard also as they were little closer.
MAGIC: WoM 4+3, no channels
- Apotheosis 2 PD ( 15 ) rr + 4
- Upgraded Hand of Glory 3 PD ( 17 ) rr + 2, dispelled
- Fury Ring to Vortex Beast 2PD ( 6 ) no damage
Fiery Convocation killed 5 Warriors and Festus
SHOOTING: My archers did another wound on Vortex Beast
CLOSE COMBAT:
Note: I will make x / y / z / a style on the report where X is number of attacks / y is number of hits / z is number of wounding hits and a is number of unsaveed wounds
White Lions & Frost Hearth vs. Chaos Warriors
- Annointed of Asuryan challenged and Exalted hero took it. Annointed did 3 / 2 / 2 / 2
- Archmage managed to do 2 unsaved wounds with Fencers blade and received 1 wound in return
- White Lions 24 / 4 / 2 / 2 and they received 3 in return.
- Frosthearth 5 / 2 / 2 / 2 , +2 from thunderstomps and received zero in return.
My opponent lost the combat by 11 and I caught them. My white Lions overaran in to the sorceror lord. Chaos Ogres also paniced away.
TURN ANALYZE:
- I would have tried to get the 4 PD dispel on fiery convocation instead of preventing the regular casting. I couldn't use draing magic nor Fiery Convocation at this moment. Luckily Festus died and made my fight alot easier.
MAIGC: WoM 3 + 3, + 1 PD (skull of katam reduced leadership by 2)
- Blades of Aiban 2 PD ( 14 ), 3 DD rr + 5 dispel
- Transmutation of Lead 3 PD
- Mutalith bound spell to Phoenix Guard 2 PD, reduced Weapon Skill and increased Initiative
CLOSE COMBAT
Chaos Ogres vs. Phoenix
- I don't have exact numbers but I ended up losing the battle with 4 and broke down. Sadly my BSB was slightly too far away.
White Lions vs. Sorceror lord
- My annointed was boo hissed ( I though I had better chance of doing wounds with more attacks) and I managed to do 1 wound to it (rolled 2 on ward save) and with the static and help of reduced Leadership the lord broke. I managed to restrain pursuit.
MAIGC: WoM 6+3 +1 PD
- Draing Magic 2 PD ( 10 ) Removed Transmutation of Lead
- Hand of Glory to White Lions 2 PD ( 9 ) rr +1, dispelled
- Apohteosis 3 PD ( 15 ) healed the Archmage
- Fury Ring to Vortex Beast 3 PD, Dispelled
SHOOTING: No damage
CLOSE COMBAT:
Silver Helms vs. Gore beast
- If my memory serves right I did 2 wounds to it and received only 1. He broke and I caught him.
White Lions vs. Ogres
- single ogre was left with 2 wounds and it killed 2 Lions and survived with Insane Courage.
CLOSE COMBAT:
White Lions vs. Chaos Ogres & Mutalith
- Mutalith was killed before it could land a strike, also the solo ogre was killed alongside with some random ogres on the charging unit. IN return I lost 5 Lions.
Game ended and final score was
2623 (+140 for the extra chariot) to 400
LORE: After magnificent victory Loriel showed his brethen that he can lead his fellow Asur to glory. Still some of the nobles formely loyal to him decided to stay with thenew prince of Rendelar province Ardui'la. Loriel knew that even if not tommorow, soon he will have to face him in battlefield and settle the dispute for good. "Not today! Today we celebrate!" Loriel yelled!
