Deployment

First of all my opponent had this green mat that we used on top of our regular brown table, so I swapped the color of my usual report. This had also one side effect that I couldn't anticipate. I have used the deployment lines that is drawn in the table as help when doing these reports and placing stuff up. Secondly Secondly for some unknown reason I didn't take much pictures of this battle. I usually take couple pictures from every now and then for reference. This must have being due the fact that this was my 3rd game within 15 hours (with only couple hours sleep) I never took any picture of the deployments for example. Due these reason this reports pictures will be less accurate than usually my reports have.

TERRAIN:

Terrain was randomized as BRB 8th page 142, My opponent won the first terrain placement pick and order was following:

- River

- Pond (left)

- Pond (right)

- Sinister Statue

- Idol of Gork

- Charnel Pit

- Building (impassable terrain)

- Forest

DEPLOYMENT: My opponent won table side choice and I won first deployment. Order of deployment was following:

- Reaver (Left)

- Darkshards

- Reaver (Right)

- Dark Riders

- Chariot (left)

- Black Guard

- Chariot (Right)

- Corsairs

- Chariot (Middle)

- Hydra

- Silver Helms

- Warlocks

- Skycutter

- Dark elf characters

- Rest of High Elves

Morathi used Dark Magic and generated ( 1 , 1 , 2 , 4 ) He was ended up with Doombolt (swapped roll of 4), Word of Pain, Chillwind and Bladewind (took with the choice)

Alariele used Lore of High Magic and generated ( 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ). I swapped tempest to Soul Quench

I didn't make any vanguard moves. My opponent won the first turn roll.

TERRAIN & DEPLOYMENT ANALYZE:

- When I rolled the three rivers randomly I though that it would make my day much easier. Allthough we don't have much river section I have done three 8x3 straight rivers, so we used ponds instead. They are great way to block fast cavalry flanks. Terrain was also fairly empty which was good thing for me. I was also pretty happy with the fact that he didn't have much that could counter those Sisters as I was able to pick those sisters place after every model was in the table.

Turn 1 - Dark Elves

There is something wrong with the picture now. I was fairly sure that he had corsairs in horde formation behind the black guard, but this irl picture must have being from the first turn and... I am not sure but anyway something is wrong here :)

MAGIC: WoM 6+3, no channels

- Chillwind to reavers 2 PD ( 17 ) 10 hits, 2 wounds -> panic and ran off board.

- Morathi Doom Bolt 3 PD ( 1+1+1 ) natural failure

- Warlock Doom Bolt to shadow warriors 3 PD ( 14 ) 6 DD dispel

SHOOTING: Dark shards killed one reaver, Dark Riders wounded chariot

Turn 1 - High Elves

No damage from statue

MAGIC: 1+1, no channels

- Walk Between World to reaver 2 PD.

SHOOTING:

- Boltthrower shot dark riders and killed the unit

- Shadow Warriors killed one warlock

- Sisters did 19 hits +3 from maiden to hydra and did total 7 wouds, while hydra failed armor saves and died.

- Boltthrower shot darkshard and killed 3 of them.

- Combined shooting from chariot / skycutter and Archers killed 5 Black Guards ( 1 save )

Turn 2 - Dark Elves

No damage from sinister statua

MAGIC 5+2 + 1 PD

- Chillwind to shadow warriors 2 PD ( 10 ) -> 2 wounds

- Doombolt to shadow warriors 3 PD (21 ) 5 DD dispel (18) failed. Rest of the warriors died.

Nothing else was at range.

SHOOTING: Darkshards did 3 wounds on chariot

At close combat frenzied guards luckily made small overrun.

Turn 2 - High Elves

MAGIC 6+2, no channels

- Soul Quench to darkshard 2 PD (12) -> failed to dispel with 3 DD -> 11 hits 6 wounds and panic test failed (thanks to Charnel pit)

- Hand of Glory to archers 2 PD (12) +2 BS

- Arcane Unforgin to Tularis 2 PD ( rr 14), weapon unforged

- Walk Between Worlds to Chariot 2 PD (11) 3 DD dispel failed (without modifier)

SHOOTING:

- Boltthrower killed one warlock

- Combined shooting from Sisters, Boltthrower, Archers and skycutter did total 22 Wounds on black guard.

Turn 3 - Dark Elves

I ain't complete sure did he try to charge dragon princes with corsair. I am sure that he didn't try to charge archers since I didn't do any stand and shoots. He charged my chariot and I took flee action. Rolled pretty good, but he rolled really high with charge range. Luckily his overran was too small.

He failed rally check with darksahrd and ran full 12 nearly touching the edge.

MAGIC 3+2

- Doom bolt 3 PD (18) fialed to dispel 6 dead archers

- Doom bolt to chariot 2 PD failed to cast

CLOSE COMBAT

Silver Helms vs. Blackguard

- Silverhelms did 2 wound, received total 2 wounds and saved 6. They lost the combat by four. I passed the break test, and then passed reform test.

Turn 3 - High Elves

SInister statue wounded morathi. I bounced the darkshard off the board. I tried double charge to Morathi with chariots. I sended skycutter to help silverhelms.

MAGIC: WoM 6+1 , no channels

- Soul Quench 2 PD ( 11 ) 3 DD dispel

- Upgrade Hand of Glory to archers 2 PD ( 16 ) 3 DD fail ( 14) +2 characteristics

- Arcane unforging to Corsais banner bearer 2 PD (12) failure

SHOOTING

- Combined shooting from Sisters and archers to corsairs did total 14 wounds and caused them to flee in panic ( two bad rolls in row )

- Both bolt throwers were in range of morathi. I managed to do 1 wound with them.

CLOSE COMBAT:

Skycutter did 2 wounds which was allocated to unit and it was destroyed whole. BSB chillblade hitted with every attack and I failed to save any. I lost the combat by 4, but again managed to stay with BSB help.

Turn 4 - Dark Elves

I fled with chariot, but his warlocks still caught me. Morathi moved a little deeper in to the forest so it wouldn't be in range of the left BT.

MAGIC 6+5, no channels

- Blade wind to archers 4 PD ( 21 ) 3 dead

- Doom Bolt to boltthrower 4 PD (18) Dispelled

- Doom bolt to chariot 3 PD, chariot destroyed

CLOSE COMBAT:

- Silverhelms finaly destroyed, but they managed to kill tularis

Turn 4 - High Elves

MAGIC 6+4 +1 DD

- Soul Quench to corsairs 2 PD ( 8 ) 2 DD dispel

- Walk Between World to sisters 2 PD (14) 3 DD failure

- Upgraded hand of glory to Archers 3 PD (15) 2 DD failure +1 stats

SHOOTING:

- I tried lucky shot morathi with bolt thrower and with chariot.

- I used archers to shoot morathi and finished the work.

- Sisters shot corsairs and wiped them out completely

At this moment my opponent decided to yield.

Final Score was 2650 - 489

GAME ANALYZE:

- This was really different list that I have ever played. I never though how powerfull shooting those sisters can pull of. I might try this again, but perhaps I would leave banner of the world dragon out of it and give the hand maiden lodestone instead.

- This was also the first game ever where I felt that chariots truly gave their points worth. I have always tried to use them as flank charge combat resolution hammers and I haven't never find any real use for them. But as defensive flank protectors they worked really well. This was actually really good experience as I plan to return to Khemri and this will indeed make chariots more worthwhile for me. Allthough there is big difference to have 70 point model and 165 point unit in this duty.

- I think my opponent should have used warlocks and morathi more aggressively, using corsairs as bunker he could have easily destroyed archers / skycutters etc. I also think that warlocks would have survived chariot charge rather well so using them more aggressively in my right flanks might have being better.

- It was also really odd to make the report. I usually remember pretty well what happened etc. Now my notes had few crucial mistakes (mainly in turn number) and due having multiple games in short period of time I ended up mixing fights together and with little sleep deprevation there must have being some mistakes.

Overall great game and we had fun!
