Deployment

TERRAIN:

Terrain was randomized as BRB 8th page 142, My opponent won the first terrain placement pick and order was following:

- Sinister Statue

- Building

- Forest

- Mistwreathed Swamp

- Hill

- Fence

DEPLOYMENT: My opponent won table side pick and I won the first deployment. Deployment order was following:

- White Lions

- Fell Bats

- Reavers (right)

- Dire wulfs

- Reavers (left)

- Skeleton Warriors (right)

- Phoenix Guard

- Skeleton Warriors (left)

- Frosthearth Phoenix

- Grypt Horrors

- Archers

- Mortis Engine

- High Elf Characters

- Rest of Vampires

My Archmage generated ( 1 , 2 , 4 , 5 ) I kept Apotheosis and Hand of Glory and swapped Tempest and Arcane unforging to signatures.

Strigoi Ghoul King and Vampire hero took invication of nehek

Necromancer 1 generated ( 1 , 6 ) and kept Dance Macabre and swapped Wind of Death to signature

Necromancer 2 generated ( 1 , 4 ) he chose Invication of Nehek and kept raise dead

Master Necromancers generated ( 2 , 3 , 6 ) and he turned Winds of Death to Signature

My opponent won vanguard and moved little bit with wulfs. I made as long vanguards as possible. My opponent managed to snatch first turn with after couple tied rerolls.

TERRAIN & DEPLOYMENT ANALYZE AND NOTES:

- First of all Niittaaja is returning player. His last game was played 25.11.2013 agaisnt dwarfs and last time we have played against each other was 24.8.2013.. He is no green player as he has 57 games played before this. Some of you might know that he is the dude I bought my vampire counts (which I have played only 1 game so far) and now he used those exact same models for this game. Perhaps he will return completely to Warhammer and buy the Vampire Counts back from me.

- I made slight change to the list I used against Oniichar. I remembered that he liked Mortis Engine and I swapped razor standar for Eternal flames and 2 extra Phoenix Guard.

- I think he should have took the direwulfs to middle section rather than trying to face my reaver / silver helms.

Turn 1 - Vampire Counts

Mortis Engine gave Regeneration to all those blocks, but not Fell Bats

MAGIC: WoM 6+5 , + 1 PD

- Cursed Book -2 PD -> Withering to Phoenix Guard reduced -3 Toughness

- Invication of Nehek 2 PD ( 7 ) passed -> 8 Zombies

- Invication of Nehek 2 PD ( 9 ) 2 DD dispel

- Invication of Nehek (level 3) 3 PD ( 18 )-> 4 DD (RR dispel)

- Upgraded Dance Macabree 3 PD ( 14 ) every one moves a bit more.

Turn 1 - High Elves

No damage from sinister statua. I moved my Phoenix guard to about 12 inch from horrors and so that SW 2 would be in front arc.

MAGIC: 5 + 1 , No channels

- Drain Magic 2 PD ( 14 ) 4 DD dispel

- Hand of Glory to Phoenix Guard 1 PD ( rr 11 ), Dispel scrolled

- Soul Quench to zombies 1 PD ( 11 ) , It made 11 hits and 8 wounds.

- Fury Ring 2 PD -> Dispelled

SHOOTING: I tried to shoot mortis Engine with archers and no damage.

CLOSE COMBAT: Reavers punished wulves and didn't even receive any damage.

TURN ANALYZE:

- I should have casted 1 PD apotheosis and then only 1 PD fury ring at this moment. Dispelling the Hand of Glory with scroll was really surpirising

Turn 2 - Vampire Counts

Sinister statue wounded Grypt Horrors, Mortis engine gave regeneration to each of his key units.

MAGIC: 4+3, no channels

- Cursed book -3 PD -> Soulblight to White Lions

- Danse Mcabre to Skeleton Warriors 1 PD ( 10 ) -> healed the wound in grypt horror

- Invication of Nehek 1 PD ( 10 ) -> 12 zombies

- Invication of Nehek 1 PD ( Natural Failure )

- Hellish Vigor 1 PD ( Natural Failure )

- Dispelled WIther 4 DD

CLOSE COMBAT:

Phoenix guard vs. Grypt Horrors

My champion issued a challenge, but he refused it with the champion

- Phoenix guard + Noble made total 18 attakcs -> 16 hits -> 5 Wounds and with flaming no saves. My phoenix received 2 wound ( 4 Saved )

- My opponent directed 6 attacks to Noble. He got only 1 wounding hit which I saved.

I won the combat by 6 so total 11 wounds done to the Horrors

White Lion vs Skeleton Warriors

My annointed issued a challenge and his hero vampire took it. Annointed killed the vampire before it could land a strike.

- Strigoi hits and wounds with every attack, but due Banner of the World dragon everything was saved. After that my opponent decided to yield as he thought that there is no way he could claim win as his main blender was tanked by Lions and he couldn't get any much needed support the the unit in question.

Final score was 2549 - 0

GAME ANALYZE:

- My opponent totally forgot the banner when he made those blendering characters. He wouldn't naturally take magical weapons to them. We played for fun situation where I wouldn't have the banner and Strigoi killed 9 white lions with redfury shenanigans ;)

- Once again Phoenix Guard proved them selves to be one of the best. That is just simple amazing unit and there isn't simple many things that can really give it rough time.

- I Don't know would I charged the frost in to SW1 combat or do charge with reaver 2 to zombies and frost to fellbats and get second round of combat with phoenix against the zombies and sniped the master necromancer with frostie. I would probably aided the SW1 .

- Anyway it was great to see a return of Niittaaja, eventhough I would have hoped that his return would have being more funner for him.
